![]() There are some concepts that can't be done well on starting points without breaking the game. Don't beat yourself up if you can't make a certain character on starting points. ![]() You might have trouble with the active points and balancing, but you can do a barebones version of anyone with those four books. With the basic books, Champions, and Champions Powers you can do the bulk of published characters. I strongly recommend a copy of Champions Powers if you are looking for pre-fabs that you can drop into a character to simulate common comic book power sets. There are so many ways of doing the same thing, that you can get caught chasing your tail if you aren't careful. It's always a little like that in Hero, even if you've been doing it for a while. If anyone does stumble across a NegMan style character that can be updated to 6e without too much frustration, please send it to me. My players tend to give me a simple idea and then complicate it so much that I have to say "Either siplify it or you have to create it alone" Not in a nasty way or anything, I just get fed up of spending hours trying to figure things out and then realising they don't work out as I, or the Player, would have liked. Some concepts turn out nightmarish when you get down to actually creating their powers and restrictions. I am currently using 6e, I am not great with the character creation. After Neg Man is gone for a minute, both halves start taking damage with a short time increment. The deaths of both parties could be handled by a Dependence complication as easily as anything else. Why don't the bad guys just blast him rather than try to fight the Negative Man construct? As highlighted above, you could either build the Negative Man as a separate character, duplicate or Summoned (or Multiform leaving the original body behind in a coma), or build it as special effects of a single character's powers.Ī minute is a long time in Hero - while this always seems a tight time limit in the comics, most Hero encounters are over in well under the 5 turns that equate to a minute, so you may want to lower the Hero character's time limit. The in-game problem with a "negative man" character is that Larry himself is pretty helpless overall. a lot of his abilities could be pretty much covered by Larry buying telekinesis and a bit of clairvoyance! The problems would be how to deal with Neg Man being trapped, plus of course the recombination time limit.Ī lot depends on how you envision the character operating. ![]() He didn't seem to have a ranged attack, at least as opposed to being a ranged attack in his own right.Ĭome to think of it. In the original series he spends a lot of time picking up people and carrying them around, which suggests either that Desol isn't the optimal way to represent him (at least not on an Always On basis), or that he has Affects Physical World for his Strength. That's not such a problem for a Neg Man-like character. ![]() The problem I've had with Neg Man is defining what he can actually do. ![]()
